About Me
My philosophy in working with clients is to build a trusting relationship with them by connecting with who they are as a person. I then work with the client to help them access their already existing methods of coping to help them manage the challenges they bring to therapy.
I navigate the variety of therapeutic disciplines that I have found useful for the populations I work with: Relational Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I find that accessing inner creativity can be a key to recovery and often utilize a client's natural form of creative expression to help them heal. I work alongside the client, honoring that they are the expert in their own life. I believe that the relationship I build with my client is the most vital instrument for change. When working with children, I find play and art therapy either guided or child-directed the most effective treatment.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters in Child Development. I have 11 years experience and expertise working with children and adolescents, LGBTQIA, immigrant and refugee populations. I am LGBTQIA identified and am available to help clients in any stage of discovering and expressing their sexual orientation and gender identity.
I have lived in various countries abroad such as Honduras, Zimbabwe and South Africa and have experience conducting therapy in Spanish as well as in English as a Second Language.
I am paneled with BCBS IL, BCBS of MA, Horizon BCBS of NJ, Providence Health Plan, Anthem EAP, Carelon Behavioral Health, Optum, Ascencion (Smarthealth), United Healthcare and Cigna.
